General Use F.A.Q:

How much coffee/water should I use in my Technivorm?

We suggest using the ratio of 60 grams of coffee per liter of water. Using the Moccamaster scoop, this ratio is roughly 1 scoop of whole bean coffee (and 1 ½ level scoops of ground coffee) for every 2 cup mark on the brewer.

What coffee grind should I use?

If you are using a paper filter, you should use a medium or filter grind setting. If you are using a metal filter, use a slightly coarser grind size.

How do I clean my Technivorm?

The water reservoir just needs to be dried off with a clean cloth after brewing. To clean the thermal carafe, brew arm, or brew basket, simply use a mild dish detergent and wash by hand. For any stubborn coffee stains, we suggest using Urnex brand Purocaff and soak items overnight. The external of the brewer can be cleaned with any stainless steel safe cleaner.

My coffee is too strong or too weak.

Please ensure you are using the suggested coffee to water ratio. If the ratio is correct, then use a coarser grind size if your coffee is too strong, and a finer grind size if your coffee is too weak.

The manual says I should descale my brewer. How do I do that?

We suggest using Urnex Dezcal or another citric acid descaler. Citric acid, unlike many descalers, will not leave harmful residues that will end up in your coffee, and unlike cleaning vinegar, it is odor and tasteless. To use, simply follow the instructions by dissolve the descaler in water and pour into the water reservoir. Run the solution through the brewer like you were brewing a pot of coffee. Repeat with the same solution if needed. Afterwards, run normal water through the brewer to rinse. That’s it!

How often should I descale my Technivorm?

Once every 3 to 6 months to keep your brewer in top shape. Troubleshooting:

The brewer and the light is on, but water isn’t being dispensed.

Most likely the heating element is in need of descaling, as the water will only flow up the tube when it is at boiling point. Please follow the descaling instructions above.

The water doesn’t come out of my Technivorm evenly.

Please ensure the footplate of the Technivorm is properly attached, and that the brewer is on a level surface. If you notice that the holes in the brew arm are clogged, please follow the descaling instructions, or soak the brew arm in descaler.

Water isn’t coming out of the brew basket on my KBGT!

Please ensure that the footplate is in place. The footplate is required for the auto brew basket spring to open fully when the carafe is in place.

The hot plate on my CD Glass doesn’t turn off.

The CD Glass has an manual shut off switch. If the hot plate does not turn off when the switch is off, please contact us for assistance.

 

Warranty F.A.Q.

The warranty for Technivorm Moccamaster is five (5) years from date of purchase of a new brewer and one (1) year from the date of purchase of a refurbished brewer. Proof of purchase in the form of a receipt is from a Canadian retailer is required. The warranty does not include carafe or carafe lids. This warranty does not apply to any defect arising from a buyer or user’s misuse of the product, negligence, lack of descaling, failure to follow Technivorm instructions, negligent handling, modification, alteration or repair not authorized by the service centre, Transcend Coffee Corp.

I need a replacement part. Is that included under warranty?

The carafe and carafe parts are the only parts not covered under warranty. If you have having an issues with any other part of the Technivorm, please do not hesitate to contact us.

My Technivorm is scaled up! Can you repair it for me under warranty?

A. Unfortunately, the warranty does not apply to lack of descaling. Please follow the descaling information above. If you have issues after a full descaling, please contact us for assistance.

I bought my Technivorm within the warranty period but I don’t have a receipt.

A. Unfortunately, we require a proof of purchase from a Canadian location to confirm the purchase date. Any US purchases must be directed to Technivorm USA. Bank and Credit Card statements are too vague to be considered proof of purchase. If an order is placed after May 2012 on our online store, we can look up a receipt for you.

My machine is outside of warranty, or I don’t have a receipt.

We can certainly fix your brewer - for simple external repairs, the cost is $80 CAN plus the shipping cost to Transcend. For internal and extensive repairs,such as replacing a glass tube or a cracker water reservoir, the cost is $130 CAN. This includes parts, labour, and shipping back to you. Alternatively, we can provide you a refurbished Technivorm for $130 CAN after we receive your brewer, which gets a brewer back to you sooner.

Can’t anyone else fix my Technivorm?

We have been trained by Technivorm Moccamaster to service their brewers and know them better than anyone else in Canada. If you decide to have your brewer service elsewhere, it will void the 5 year warranty.

Issues fixed by using the foot plate or having an even surface:

  • Water not coming out evenly, uneven distribution
  • KBGT auto off needs the foot plate

Issues fixed by descaling:

  • Water not coming up through the tube (getting to temperature)
  • Clogged brew arm holes
  • Cloudy glass tube or water reservoir
  • Slow brewing time
  • Water dripping out slowly
 

Guarantee after 30 days:
If there are any manufacturer issues within 30 days of purchase, including non-warranty items, Transcend Coffee will cover all costs, including shipping to and from Transcend Coffee.

Returns:
We will take returns within a 30 day period, any returns for used products are subject to a 25% restocking fee. Products must be inspected by a staff member and proof purchase is needed.

Reseller Returns:
If a reseller accepts a return from a consumer, they must contact Transcend within 30 days of purchase in order to be sent a new product. After 30 days, only warranty claims will be explored.
