Champions Again: Transcend & CBC Edmonton AM's drink "Traveling Mercies"proclaimed Edmonton's Signature Winter Cocktail

Transcend Coffee and Edmonton AM paired up again this year to co-enter a cocktail in the City of Edmonton's Signature Winter Drink contest. Our founder, Poul Mark, created a drink he named Traveling Mercies, which both is a reference to another cocktail he used as inspiration, and a warm wish to send friends and family off from visiting our great city.

The drink consists of 2.5 oz of Alberta Premium Rye Whiskey (made in Calgary), ¾ oz of La Quintinye Vermouth Royal, a few dashes of Peychaud's Bitters and ½ oz of Cascara simple syrup (a 1:1 simple syrup infused with the dried husks of coffee cherries from Santa Lucia, Costa Rica), and a twist of orange peel.

The drink was made on January 26th at the Fairmont Hotel MacDonald and served to a panel of six judges, who selected Traveling Mercies as the official Winter Signature Drink for the City of Edmonton.

The cocktail can be purchased at Transcend Garneau and will hopefully be available at other fine dining establishments later this year.
